Lachlan Hawes
Lachlan Hawes has been playing trumpet for more than 25 years. Lachlan cut his chops in the "post-punk" Sydney pub scene playing with Sydney's premier mod outfit "Stupidity". His roots are definitely RnB (the rock'n'roll type) reflected in his at times aggressive punchy style. A chance meeting with the late Miles Davis in Stockholm in '89 led to an interest in Jazz music which would prove to be a catalyst for the improvisational opportunities that he was seeking. Lachlan played freelance with many small jazz combos in the early '90's in Melbourne and Sydney before eventually hooking up with Slewfoot in '96. After leaving Slewfoot he played with jazz fusion outfit "Outer Orbit" between '98 and 2000. Lachlan has been quiet on the live music scene of late but has remains involved with music, composing computer-based music for television and gaming media.
